Who are we?
The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the UK’s largest law schools. With an impressive history going back to 1876, we employ c680 staff and attract over 7000 students to study on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. ULaw has an outstanding reputation as a full service legal and educational training specialist, operating from eleven campuses throughout England with additional global reach through online and face to face provision.
Our employability statistics are enviably high (96% of our 2016 full time LPC students secured employment/further education within 9 months of graduation) which is reflected in ULaw’s reputation for producing lawyers and barristers with genuine business and commercial acumen. We also deliver an LLB which has received outstandingly strong reviews in the National Student Survey.
What are we looking for?
Due to significant student growth we are looking to recruit additional tutors; qualified solicitors or barristers with a genuine passion for quality and excellence, who can demonstrate successful legal practice experience. You will enjoy being challenged (by students and course content in equal measure) and be able to adapt to the different learning styles of students and methods of course delivery. You will be eager to share your expertise and become involved in all aspects of enhancing the student experience within our campuses, primarily teaching on our LPC, GDL, BPTC and LLB programmes. Please note that classes are also routinely delivered over weekends and evenings and tutors are expected to work flexibly within these parameters. We have a requirement for a BPTC civil tutor so would particularly encourage applications from Barristers and Solicitors with Higher Rights capable of teaching that subject.
We offer an excellent range of competitive benefits including location weighting, 35 days annual leave, private medical insurance, pension scheme, life assurance, training and qualifications, travel loans and childcare vouchers. As part of the tutor development programme, we will also support you to study for a recognised teaching qualification within your first 18 months of employment.
Please visit our website www.law.ac.uk/vacancies for a full job description, person specification and application form. Please email your completed application form to email@example.com.
Please note, CVs will not be considered and only application forms are accepted for this role.
Please note, this role may be subject to a DBS check.
