This year has seen Coventry University cement its status as the country's top modern University, with a rise in the Guardian University Guide 2018 to 12th spot, the highest ever placing for a modern university. We continue to build on our reputation from other key league tables, notably last month's Complete University Guide where we were ranked top new university, and the Times Higher Education world rankings - the latter naming Coventry as one of the world's top institutions under 50 years old.

Coventry University has developed an International Strategy to take it to 2020, which sets out our internationalisation objectives and is underpinned by developing the international capacity and capability of our staff, enhancing our international research and establishing growth in delivery overseas. In line with this strategy, the School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics is looking for a Senior Lecturer in Big Data to contribute to teaching in Statistics and research in Statistics or Applied Mathematics in the area of Big Data, notably Data Mining, Data Science, Computational Intelligence, Statistics or Applied Mathematics applied to relevant problems in Big Data.

The post holder will be based at Coventry University but will be expected to spend a significant period of residence at Emirates Aviation University in Dubai, equivalent to a semester of about 18 weeks. The post holder will be tasked with developing research and teaching in statistics at Emirates Aviation University as well as contribute to the supervision of PhD students in Dubai. The post holder will also be an active link between Emirates Aviation University and Coventry University in matters related to teaching and research.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to research groups or communities of practice internally, through the Faculty's Research Centres, and externally, assisting with bids and tenders for external projects or contracts. You will also be disseminating research outputs using a range of media and develop external networks nationally and/or internationally.

With a PhD and appropriate professional qualification and/or membership, you will need to demonstrate teaching experience at higher education level with evidence of successful student learning outcomes. Experience of working on applied research projects or contracts, supported by evidence of contribution to appropriate outputs or experience of professional practice/consultancy will be beneficial.

You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything you do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge of your area of specialisation.

As one of Coventry's biggest employers, we will provide an excellent benefits package and a personal and professional development programme that will help you to achieve your aspirations.
