SENIOR LECTURER IN MUSICAL THEATRE
£37,705 - £42,418 PER ANNUM
This post is part of the development of an exciting new programme to be delivered at University Centre Shrewsbury from September 2018.
Successful candidates will be part of not only UCS, but also a thriving host Department of Performing Arts based in Chester. With 18 staff members, around 350 students (UG, PGT and PGR), wide-ranging interests and a developing research profile, the Department in Chester offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate provision in Dance, Drama, Music and Performing Arts at our Kingsway Campus.
The Department made its first RAE submission in 2008 and was graded 2* 70%; 3* 25% and 4* 5%. It has also submitted to the REF 2014 where 59% of staff research was graded as being of a quality that is recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
In the most recent National Student Survey the Department’s disciplines were all rated above 91% with Dance rated 100% for Overall Satisfaction and Music receiving 100% for The Learning and Teaching on my Course.
We are looking for a practitioner/academic who can contribute to the undergraduate provision in Musical Theatre. The successful applicant will be a proven Lecturer, Musical Director and Pianist, and have a track record of higher education teaching in Musical Theatre or a closely related subject area. Experience of working professionally in theatre is desirable and evidence of an emerging research profile, as a practice-based or scholarly researcher is essential.
It is expected that the role will include programme leadership responsibilities for the BA Musical Theatre on the Shrewsbury Campus, but will have some teaching duties at the Kingsway campus in Chester.
