The Faculty of Arts & Humanities at the University of Chester are seeking to recruit an Executive Dean with a demonstrable track record of excellence in education and research. We are an ambitious faculty with a strategic objective to grow both nationally and internationally. This is an opportunity for an outstanding individual to help shape and deliver a Faculty teaching and learning strategy that is focussed on delivering academic excellence.
The Faculty of Arts & Humanities is shaped by its desire to nurture intelligent practitioners and informed critics, who challenge, debate, create and innovate. It comprises the departments of Art & Design, Media, Performing Arts, English, History & Archaeology. Modern Languages and Theology and Religious Studies.
Reporting to the Senior Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic, Recruitment, Quality and the Student Experience), the post holder will lead in the development of the Faculty as it continues to grow in a dynamic, international and increasingly competitive higher education sector. The Faculty operates across several campus locations including Chester, Warrington and Shrewsbury and has a portfolio of programmes at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as a vibrant research community.
We have a number of regional, national and international partnerships and we are actively seeking new, high quality partnerships to support the growth and expansion plans set out in our Faculty Plan.
You should have a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline, and a strong track record of research and impact. You will also have demonstrable experience of academic or professional leadership. This role requires excellent communication, organisational and team working skills.
