TeHononga School of Curriculum and Pedagogy is the largest school in the Faculty of Education and is responsible for pre-service and postgraduate education of teachers in early childhood, primary and secondary education.
The School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Health and Physical Education to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision and undertake research. The successful applicant will contribute to the teaching and administration requirements of the School, and in particular, health and physical education in the primary and/ or secondary initial teacher education programme, maintain and develop original scholarship and research and undertake professional and community service activities relevant to the discipline. Evaluative visiting of students on practicum is required.
You will have a relevant PhD or near completion, and a recognised teaching qualification. You will have demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching including the ability to lecture to large numbers and conduct small group seminars and tutorials effectively, along with the ability to contribute to the graduate and postgraduate programme. A strong research record and an active programme of scholarship appropriate to the level of position applied for is essential.
The appointee will be expected to teach in a number of papers in the Faculty's programmes in their field(s) of expertise as well as contribute to the teaching of papers on the professional practice of teaching including the innovative uses of digital technologies for curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. Applicants should indicate their particular discipline areas of strength.
Current salary range for Lecturers is NZ$74,034 to $89,163 per year and Senior Lecturers NZ$90,000 to $118,500, depending on qualifications and experience.
