Junior Professorship (W1) in Micro-Sociology and techno-social Interactions (W3 with Tenure Track)

initially limited to a four-year contract as a temporary official, to be filled at the earliest possible date. If the interim evaluation is positive, the contract will be extended to a total of six years. In the fifth year, a tenure evaluation will be carried out by a faculty-wide and school-wide commission. Following a positive evaluation, a permanent Chair (W3) of Micro-Sociology and techno-social Interactions will be granted without a renewed call for applications.

Evaluation criteria mutually agreed upon when the position is accepted will form the basis of the evaluation procedures. Essential elements of the evaluations will be the scientific success in the form of qualified publications that have been assessed in conformity with international standards, the successful acquisition of third-party funds, documented commitment in formats of knowledge transfer, transdisciplinary commitment and establishment of cooperations with scientists from the STEM areas, as well as developing and carrying out lectures dedicated to the research area, also in English, with positively evaluated teaching performance.

The applicant is expected to be an expert in the analysis of social microstructures. Special emphasis shall be placed on technically mediated social interaction. Important topics include the change of societal relationships, forms of life and family, gender relations, patterns of interaction and everyday practices, with regard to the consequences of digitisation, and in interaction with parallel meta-processes, such as globalisation and economisation.   The applicant’s research foci should be connectable to the humanities and social sciences Research Priority Area of TU Dresden: “Culture and Societal Change”. Cooperation with the Center for Integration Research and the Collaborative Research Centre 1285 “Invectivity.

Constellations and Dynamics of Disparagement” is desirable. The willingness and ability to conduct courses in English is expected. The involvement in committees of academic self-administration, commissions and work groups is also required.
