The Jindal School of Liberal Arts & Humanities (JSLH) at OP Jindal Global University seeks applications for positions of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor, beginning in Fall 2018.

Environmental Studies

Environmental Ethics is the study of the values and moral status centering on nature-human nexus. This position requires a sound understanding of the environment in the wake of climate change, in developing nations in particular, and how livelihood practices undermine everyday resilience.

Required Qualifications: 

The person should have a Ph.D. from a UGC approved (or equivalent foreign) university.  He/she substantial experience in teaching environmental studies at the undergraduate level and able to lead day-long field trips. He/she should be ready to teach the Foundational Environmental Studies course and design electives based on his/her research focus to support the Environmental Studies Major curricula at JSLH.

Electives should focus on one or more following themes (but not restricted to):
•    Challenges emanating from human-centered ways of thinking about the environment
•    Exploration of eco-feminism and social ecology
•    Human sustainable development in realm of climate change
•    Connect between traditional philosophical models with current environmental issues
•    Promoting an ethical (or at least thoughtful) approach to environmental conservation/restoration

Desired Qualifications: 

The person should have demonstrated excellence in producing high quality research publishable at high impact factor journals. He/she should, on his/her own, or assist in writing proposals for internal and extra-mural grants with provisions of student involvement in the project. He/she would be a part of the Center for Environment, Sustainability and Human Development (CESH) and collaborate with people within and outside JSLH to promote environmental studies across JGU and National Capital Region of Delhi.
