The Macquarie University Speech and Hearing Clinic delivers high quality integrated health services and excellence in clinical education in Audiology and Speech Pathology. Clients are seen by either Audiologists or Speech Pathologists with students under supervision as part of their Master’s degree programs. Housed in the state of the art Australian Hearing Hub, the Clinic has excellent facilities and is located alongside key partners such Australian Hearing, National Acoustic Laboratories, Cochlear Limited, Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children, The Shepherd Centre, Sydney Cochlear Implant Centre, the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders, Macquarie University Psychology and Centre for Emotional Health Clinics, and Macquarie University Hospital.

The Role

This is a key role supporting the operation of the Clinic through customer service and administrative support.

Your main responsibilities will be to provide exceptional customer service to clients, and all reception and administrative support to the staff and students at the Macquarie University Speech and Hearing Clinic. You will be meeting and greeting patients on arrival and answering their queries.

With efficient and effective administrative skills, you will be responsible for all aspects of client bookings, managing all incoming and outgoing hearing aids, processing invoices and claim payments for the Office of Hearing Services, preparing client files, confirming all client appointments, managing the banking, preparation and collation of Medicare reports, stock ordering and the ongoing management of the clinic email account.

Additionally, you will contribute to the implementation and improvement of administrative systems, processes and procedures within the Clinic that support our University wide strategy - to be a University of exceptional service and engagement.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Demonstrated extensive experience working as a Receptionist preferably in a medical or allied health environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise your workload efficiently and effectively in a high-pressure environment with competing deadlines.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft office products especially Excel and/or other databases.
  • Experience using EFTPOS, processing Medicare and HI-CAPS payments.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and a good understanding of processing Office of Hearing Services claims will be highly regarded.

Salary Package: From $64,840 to $69,883 p.a., HEW Level 4, plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading
