The Role

Group Marketing is responsible for managing the University's brand to drive reputation. Within Group Marketing, the Communications team develop and deliver effective internal and external communication strategies across the University’s key target audiences including students, industry, community, research partners, staff, alumni and advancement.

The Director, Communications will lead and drive university-wide communication strategies as well as faulty and divisional specific strategies to enhance Macquarie’s branding and reputation across all internal and external media channels and geographies. This exciting opportunity will see you engage across the University to develop messages to effectively reach our key audiences; manage effective mitigation of adverse media events; develop data-driven insights of our domestic and international media coverage to maximise opportunities; and set the direction for the Communications team.

Selection Criteria

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate extensive experience in:

  • media relations, digital and social media and internal communications 
  • building and managing engaging relationships, networks and partnerships
  • managing, leading and coaching a team of communication specialists
  • strategic management of reputational issues across a range of stakeholders including students, community, government industry, corporate and research communities
  • strong and successful track record of designing, developing and implementing successful communication strategies, plans and campaigns
  • able to operate professionally in a senior executive context

A degree qualification or equivalent experience in communications, marketing or a related discipline, is required.
