Workbased Skills Facilitator - Westlakes
The School wishes to appoint a highly motivated individual to join our enthusiastic and committed MBBS Phase 2 teaching team. The post is for one day per week to join the Year 3 team on a Tuesday.
The postholder will be responsible for the day to day management, organisation, delivery and assessment of the clinical skills component of the MBBS programme both in a laboratory setting and within the workplace at West Cumberland Hospital. The postholder will teach clinical skills as part of the Campus Day programme and will provide mentoring and support to any students from the School of Medicine (both MBBS and Physician Associate) within the workplace with regard to clinical skills and the assessment thereof, particularly with regard to Workplace-Based Assessments (WBAs).
They will create the relevant student resources or co-ordinate the activities of others to do so, and will manage the related student BlackBoard space, ensuring this is populated and up to date.
The postholder will undertake a number of duties related to assessment. In conjunction with relevant members of the Phase 2 team, they will assist with blueprinting, writing and selecting assessment items, and standard setting for the module. They will take part in the planning and delivery of OSCE assessments for the module and assist with OSCE assessments throughout the MBBS course and the training and recruitment of OSCE examiners.
Applicants will have substantial experience of working within a healthcare setting and will relevant post registration experience. Holding registration with a relevant UK healthcare professional body, a teaching qualification (or willingness to undertake on appointment) and a higher degree in a health related subject.
With demonstrable high quality clinical skills, excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills, the successful applicant will be self motivated and be able to motivate others.
