Applications are invited to the above role to deliver timely and high quality support in the School of Life Sciences. The person appointed will provide a range of technical support activities relating to the receipt and distribution of supplies in accordance with defined procedures in the Medical School stores. This role involves the provision of a customer focused counter service, stock control, various administrative duties, and driving the School van to deliver goods to a variety of locations around the University campus.

The role involves a moderate amount of physical activity, standing for much of the time, including lifting, carrying and moving materials and equipment and working across a number of locations. The role holder will also provide a range of technical support activities for research laboratories in the School carrying out the preparation of a wide range of materials.

This is a busy position that requires the role holder to be able to work quickly and accurately, with changing demands, and requires working both as a team and independently.

The candidate must have excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to lift and move heavy objects. A basic understanding of how to safely handle and store chemicals would be advantageous.

Candidates must have a minimum of two A-Levels in relevant subjects or equivalent vocational qualifications (NVQ, City & Guild), plus some experience in a relevant technical/scientific role, or considerable work experience in a relevant technical/scientific role.
