Assistant Lecturer - Department of Physics
Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Physics (Ref. 201800650) (to commence on July 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in physics, and enthusiasm for and commitment to teaching. The appointee will be responsible for teaching undergraduate physics courses at all levels as course coordinator and/or as teacher in a co-teaching team; designing and preparing course materials in lectures and tutorials; conducting tutorials as well as marking assignments and exams for these courses; developing new physics courses; supervising directed studies and/or project students in physics; conducting extra non-credit bearing remedial classes for physics majors both during term time and in the summer; and undertaking other tasks related to physics education. The Department of Physics is currently implementing an undergraduate curriculum reform; and is looking for applicants who have experience in designing and developing courses for physics majors as well as advising or mentoring undergraduate students.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
