In this role you will be responsible for designing, configuring and maintaining the University's distribution technologies for user workstations and applications, including a mix of physical and virtual apps on both Microsoft and Apple operating systems. In addition, you will specifically be taking technical ownership of the live environment, including the hardware, operating systems, backup regimes and supported applications. This will involve working closely with users across the University to understand their needs, and with colleagues in Service Delivery supporting them.

The post holder will also be responsible for Installing, configuring, maintaining and operating the University's server and storage infrastructure to deliver uninterrupted service for mission-critical applications and services.

Applicants for this post must be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of desktop operating environments, including both Microsoft Windows and Apple OSX. You will also need knowledge and experience in server operating environments and a broad experience of supporting and operating desktops and servers in a complex network environment.

You will need to be a reliable team player with an ability to understand complex technical techniques and processes. A desire to continue learning and the ability to assimilate and apply new technology is essential.  Applicants must be able to contribute to the on-call rota and planned out of hours work.
