ECU has been at the forefront of teacher education for over 100 years and is the most popular School of Education in Western Australia. The School of Education provides up-to-date and progressive courses giving students the opportunity to gather the knowledge, skills and hands-on experience needed to graduate as an outstanding teacher. Courses are available in a range of early childhood, primary and secondary education settings. 

We are seeking creative and innovative Primary general specialists to enhance our dynamic team of experts in this field. The applicant would have experience both as an academic and in Primary settings. This position will be based at both the Joondalup and Mount Lawley Campus with the option of being based at the South West Campus. 

ECU is influential in educational policy and classroom practice at the local, national and international levels. Our course has national standing and prepares educators for all levels of teaching within the Primary years of schooling. As one of the first Primary Discipline’s to introduce specialisations we are encouraging applicants with expertise across learning areas to apply. Our team are at the forefront of research in Primary Education in WA, and it is expected that the successful applicants will make a positive contribution to this field.

This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of an energetic forward-thinking multi-disciplinary team at the cutting edge of Primary initial teacher education. 

The successful applicant: 

  • Would possess a Masters’ degree and may be studying towards PhD in a relevant discipline;
  • Must be eligible for registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia;
  • Have a strong and effective teaching strategy for teaching relevant theory both on campus and online (as evidenced in student feedback);
  • Expertise in an identified field/s and general classroom/early learning setting teaching for both Primary and ECS context; and
  • Ability to teach within identified field/s across Primary Learning Areas. 

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry and Personal Excellence.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full-time, fixed term position attracts remuneration of $68,873 - $92,862 (ALEVA) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
