At Macquarie you’ll join a vibrant community of diverse perspectives, all working towards a brighter future for our communities and our planet. Surrounded by beautiful parkland campus, our students and staff are free to explore and discover, supported by facilities including a high-tech library, private teaching hospital, gym and pools, childcare facilities, a campus train station and the newly expanded Macquarie Centre shopping complex next door.

Join us and start seeing the world in a different light.

Macquarie’s Faculty of Human Sciences holds a distinctive place on the global stage, incorporating the departments of psychology, cognitive science, linguistics and educational studies. With several internationally acclaimed centres producing ground-breaking research in areas such as language acquisition, emotional health, atypical development, learning in a social world, expertise and elite performance and reading development, our faculty is a place of passionate educators and unbridled discovery. Supported by state-of-the-art facilities including the Australian Hearing Hub, we work together to investigate and answer some of the big questions about what makes us human.

The Role

Join a thriving group of academics, building capacity and cementing Macquarie University as an internationally recognised hub of research excellence in cognitive development. We are seeking a research leader to complement our strengths in reading development, with their expertise in the development of numeracy. We are looking to transform our understanding of how the development of numeracy interacts with other key aspects of child development such as language, literacy and emotional health.

We are seeking an individual with an international reputation in teaching, research and community engagement. As a senior member of the team, you will leverage a range of cutting-edge brain-imaging facilities, providing exciting scope for exploring the neural bases of mathematical cognition and numeracy disorders, regularly publish high-quality research, lead interdisciplinary collaborations and have an interest in the integration of research into clinical practice.
