Senior Laboratory Technician - Microbiology
The University of Central Lancashire wishes to recruit a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Technical Services team who provide support for our laboratory facilities at our Preston campus. The successful candidate will be primarily focussed on supporting Under Graduate classes and research within our state of the art science laboratory facilities based in Maudland and JB Firth facilities.
Duties will include the set up and preparation of laboratories, providing day-to-day technical support and advice to staff and to students studying a diverse range of subjects in the science area. Although the successful candidate will be required to show flexibility in supporting a number of areas, the primary function for this role will include managing a small team of technicians and ensuring delivery of a wide range of biosciences practical's. The role holder will also be required to undertake general equipment maintenance and safety checks, equipment inventory checks and updates, as well as providing advice as required. With an inquisitive nature, the successful candidate will possess a range of relevant skills and experience, which they will be enthusiastic to apply in a variety of different applications.
They will have the ability to work with initiative and independently, to set priorities and to work co-operatively within a diverse team.
The ability to adapt your knowledge and experience to support staff and students across the wide range of subject disciplines we support would be an advantage. Applicants must also have good verbal and written communication skills.
