Director, Regenerative and Implant Sciences

Harvard School of Dental Medicine

Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences

Position Description

The Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) is seeking applications for the position of Director of the Advanced Graduate Program in Regenerative & Implant Sciences. The successful candidate should demonstrate a vision of innovation in the field of Regenerative & Implant Dentistry. The position offers a unique interdisciplinary environment for research, teaching, and patient care not only within the HSDM community, but also with Harvard affiliated hospitals and institutions. The Advanced Graduate Program in Implant Dentistry is a two-year program leading to a certificate in implant dentistry. The department will consider MMSc or DMSc opportunities individually upon request, however; combining such degrees requires an additional time commitment beyond the two years of the Implant Certificate Program. The objective of this program is to enable highly motivated individuals with proven scholarship and excellence in patient care to achieve academic leadership in the clinical and scientific fields of implant dentistry and tissue regeneration. The Director oversees all aspects of the AG Regenerative and Implant Sciences program including: the recruitment and admission of highly qualified applicants; the academic, clinical and research progress of the residents; the recruitment and calibration of part-time faculty; the development and maintenance of the program-specific curriculum.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic individual who is able to lead in the field of Regenerative and Implant Sciences by laying a vision of innovation, mentoring advanced graduate students, and establishing cutting edge research in the field. This faculty position has an academic appointment at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications of the individual. The position also includes research and/or clinical responsibilities, based on level of interest.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must possess a DMD or DDS degree from a CODA accredited dental school or equivalent, and be eligible for dental licensure in Massachusetts.

Additional Qualifications

A demonstrated background of innovation and research in the field of Regenerative & Implant Sciences. Special emphasis will be given to candidates with a strong background in digital implant dentistry. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in teaching and clinical instruction, as well as in related areas at the advanced graduate level. Further qualifications should include clinical skills to practice productively in the state-of-the-art Harvard Dental Center.
