Senior Specialist, Camp/Clinical SAF, Research Compliance
The Senior Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) position is part of the Occupational Health & Safety Division of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). This position reports to the Manager, OHS at the Charles River Campus (CRC) and is primarily responsible for the daily execution of workplace safety programs at BU and BMC. This position is primarily based on the CRC while remaining flexible in assignments across all areas and departments served by EHS. The specific duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: conducting safety training, inspections and maintaining related records. Also implements programs designed to prevent workplace injuries and illness and promote campus-wide education regarding occupational safety. Implements compliance programs including, but not limited to; lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hazard communication, machine shop safety, bloodborne pathogens and powered industrial trucks. Develops and conducts training programs on various health and safety topics. This position also provides support to construction, and fire safety programs for BUMC and BMC.
B.A./B.S. in a related field and three years of relevant experience, the ability to respond to emergencies on campus during off hours, including weekends and holidays as part of the on-call emergency response team. Should have or be able to obtain the 40-hour OSHA hazardous waste operations and emergency response training. This position requires completion of a pre-placement physical questionnaire and on-site physical and medical surveillance upon hire.
