Reporting to the Vice-President, Research & Innovation, this position will assume responsibility for innovation UBC, the umbrella under which several existing and new units and activities will be brought together. This new position will help foster a comprehensive and inclusive approach to innovation through hubs in the Okanagan, on the Point Grey campus, and at Robson Square in downtown Vancouver. Several different support pathways for innovation are targeted that will allow the new AVP to enable entrepreneurship and commercialization, social innovation and knowledge exchange. This new position will ensure UBC research and innovation activities have maximum potential for broad social and economic impact.

The ideal candidate will be appointable as a professor at UBC and bring a passion for research across a range of fields. You will bring an understanding of the innovation agenda within the context of a complex, research intensive university; one that is attuned to the rapid changes in society. Having served on cross-campus committees and in institutional leadership roles, such as Associate Dean or Director of an Institute or Centre, the ideal candidate will bring strong relationship building skills and an open and collaborative approach.
