Vice President (Academic Staffing and Resources) (Ref: PolyU-VPASR)

The University is now inviting applications and nominations for the post of Vice President (Academic Staffing and Resources).  This appointment will be made on either a substantive basis or a concurrent basis for a fixed term.

Reporting to Deputy President and Provost, the appointee will be a member of the senior management team responsible for academic staffing and resources of the University.
Job Functions 
The appointee will be required to:
(a)    assist Deputy President and Provost in planning matters related to staffing in faculties, schools and academic departments of the University to ensure optimal deployment of resources;
(b)    oversee the development and execution of institutional policies and plans on academic staffing and related matters;
(c)    champion strategic initiative in academic talent acquisition to strengthen academic capabilities and build a strong pipeline for academic leadership;
(d)    oversee the operation of some non-academic support units of the University as designated; and
(e)    perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Deputy President and Provost or his/her delegate.

Applicants should: 
(a)    have outstanding academic qualifications at Chair Professor level with evidence of eminent scholarship; 
(b)    have demonstrated capability and track records in staffing strategies and planning with solid experience acquired in a senior management capacity of a sizable and renowned university;
(c)    be a visionary and inspiring leader with an excellent drive for performance;

(d)    have a proven track record in driving significant changes in academia successfully;
(e)    have exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with different stakeholders both internally and externally; and  
(f)    have an excellent command of both written and spoken English, with proficiency in Chinese being an advantage. 

Remuneration and Conditions of Service 
Terms of appointment and remuneration package are negotiable and highly competitive.
