Assistant Professor in Banking/ Finance

In addition to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and engaging in research, the candidate will also get opportunities to undertake consultancies. The appointee will also be required to work closely with the local professional Economics/ Banking & Finance body. The appointee will be responsible to the Dean, through the Head of Department and will be required to develop and teach Banking & Finance units at undergraduate and post graduate level. Duties include carrying out research and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, upgrade of equipment and resources, development of new programmes and mentoring of junior staff and students. Activities associated with tutorials, lecturing, exam paper preparation & marking are to be implemented according to policies and procedures. Appointee will also be required to undertake other responsibilities as designated to him or her by the Dean through the HOS/HOD.
A PHD in Banking & Finance with either a formal tertiary teaching qualification or a good relevant tertiary (normally an aggregate of four years) teaching experience with demonstrated research outcomes and publications in recognized journals/outlets.
An Assistant Professor shall have a demonstrated ability to make a significant contribution to the discipline through research and/or scholarship. In research and/or scholarship and/or teaching they shall demonstrate the ability to make original contributions which expand knowledge or practice in their disciplines.
An attractive salary commensurate with qualifications and abilities will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
