The Senior Producing Editor of WBUR's Environmental multimedia vertical, a reporting team with an editorial focus on the environment, climate and energy supervises a multimedia vertical for audio segment production and contributions for radio broadcasts and digital publishing including a blog, potential podcasts, visual presentation and social media. The Environmental unit covers various aspects, people and organizations related to the environment, climate and energy landscape throughout Massachusetts, with an emphasis on exposing a greater diversity of voices, topics, communities, research and innovation. The Senior Producing Editor develops and oversees innovative storytelling and narrative establishing a brand and unique identity for the vertical. In addition to the Senior Producing Editor, the Environmental 'team' will include two multimedia reporters - one mostly for radio (but with digital competencies); the other mostly digital (with some radio abilities). The Senior Producing Editor will also recruit and manage a small roster of free-lance contributors for regular digital content. When possible, the Senior Producing Editor may also produce reports or other content for on-air or online. She/he will also work with WBUR Managers to coordinate and facilitate regular public events including roundtables and forums on environmental issues. The Senior Producing Editor of WBUR's Environmental vertical is responsible for developing and executing the overall vision, strategy, promotion and presence throughout the greater Boston community, especially throughout the Environmental and Energy communities. This Senior Producing Editor has leadership and management skills and experience to lead a strong and creative team. Utilizing the craft of public radio journalism to its fullest, the Senior Producing Editor works in alignment with the Managing Director of News & Programs, WBURs Executive Director of News Content and other senior news managers on strategic plans related to the arts and culture vertical's growth and evolution.
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred with at least five to eight years of related experience.
