Associate Lecturer in Languages
The School of Language and Global Studies at the University of Central Lancashire is seeking applicants to join a pool of staff-paid-by-the-hour. Applicants need to possess a good Honours Degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline and a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
Experience of development and delivery of teaching materials would be an advantage but, to be successful, candidates need to demonstrate competence and academic ability in an area of education that the School provides. Candidates with experience of teaching Language and/or Society and Culture in the following areas are sought: Arabic, Farsi, German, Hebrew, Russian, Turkish and Urdu.
Successful candidates will be expected to complete pre-employment checks and undertake induction, in order to be prepared for potential contract offers at short notice. The pool will be considered first when seeking to fill normal (i.e. planned) short-term opportunities and to cover sudden, or unexpected, vacancies.
Post-holders will have an excellent record of working as part of an academic team, fluency in the target language(s) as appropriate, with an understanding and appreciation of cultural norms, good planning, organisation and collaboration skills, as well as a willingness to develop innovative teaching methods. Post-holders should also be able to demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the University's Values.
Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.
Please apply online; if you cannot apply online please contact Human Resources on 01772 892324 and quote the reference number. CVs will not be considered unless accompanied by a completed application form.
