We continue to build on our reputation from other key league tables, notably last month's Complete University Guide where we were ranked top new university, and the Times Higher Education world rankings - the latter naming Coventry as one of the world's top institutions under 50 years old.

The Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing at Coventry University is one of the largest in the UK, and is nationally and internationally renowned as a centre of innovation for its teaching, learning and research. The School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics is one of three schools within the faculty and has a very successful suite of courses supported by excellent staff, teaching facilities and laboratories. The school is responsible for the development of a thriving portfolio of teaching and research. As such, we are looking for experienced academic staff who can underpin their teaching with research to support the overall vision of the University and help us to improve our growing reputation.

We offer undergraduate degrees in Business Information Technology, Computer Science, Computing, Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity, Games Technology and Multimedia Computing. Our postgraduate courses include Data Science and Computational Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Network and Forensic Computing. We are interested in expanding our teaching and research in Games Technology and particularly the following areas:

  • Advanced Graphics Algorithms
  • Virtual and Augmented Reality
  • Artificial Intelligence in Games

You will have the opportunity to contribute to research groups or communities of practice internally, through the Faculty Research Centres, and externally, assisting with bids and tenders for external projects or contracts. You will also be disseminating research outputs using a range of media and develop external networks nationally and/or internationally.

You will be responsible for the development, preparation and delivery of learning, teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level, ensuring the teaching for which you are responsible is informed by contemporary research in the relevant field and develops the ability of students to engage in debate, critical discourse and rational thinking. With our extensive network of international partners, you will have the opportunity to work on international teaching and research projects.

With a PhD and appropriate professional qualification and/or membership, you will need to demonstrate teaching experience at higher education level with evidence of successful student learning outcomes. Experience of working on applied research projects or contracts, supported by evidence of contribution to appropriate outputs or experience of professional practice/consultancy will be beneficial.
