Postdoctoral Fellow

Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases

Position Description

The Duraisingh Lab at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to our research program in host-parasite interactions during the malaria blood-stage on infection. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other group members to study epigenetic regulation within the malaria blood-stage parasite. Approaches may include but are not limited to CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and transcriptomics (bulk and single cell).

Our lab has a strong tradition of developing and applying genetic technologies associated with malaria parasites and red blood cells to elucidate mechanisms of malaria biology and disease. We are now looking to extend our previous work on parasite epigenetic regulation to better understand how these mechanisms contribute to the infection of the parasite.
Ideal applicants will have a PhD in a relevant field, with strong background in molecular biology and/or molecular genetics, ideally in the context of malaria or other infectious diseases.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in biology/molecular biology/molecular parasitology or equivalent. Strong molecular biology laboratory skills are essential, previous experience with in vitro culture and manipulation of Plasmodium or other eukaryotic parasites strongly desired.

Additional Qualifications

Additional experience in biochemical approaches would be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of consistent publication, have strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
