Postdoctoral Associate/Lecturer, Department of Biology
The Department of Biology at Boston University invites applications for full-time teaching and research Postdoctoral Associate/Lecturer appointments starting September 1, 2018 or January 1, 2019. These positions are designed for recent Ph.D. recipients planning to pursue academic careers of teaching and research at two- or four-year institutions. Initial appointments are for one year, and typically renewed for an additional year based on satisfactory performance. Responsibilities are divided between teaching and research. The instructional component will involve guided experiences in teaching discussion sections and laboratories of undergraduate courses (e.g. Introductory Biology, Physiology, and Biochemistry), as well as helping to implement innovative teaching methodologies. In addition, the applicant will be expected to develop and teach an undergraduate course during the second year of the appointment. Candidates will be expected to participate in one or more of Boston University’s pedagogical instructional seminars or programs, such as those provided by the Center for Teaching and Learning.
