Clinical Teacher - Dental Education Centres
The School is seeking to appoint 2 Clinical Teachers, to join the teaching teams within the Dental Education Centres, where you will undertake clinical supervision of undergraduate students, ensuring adherence to curriculum/quality assurance requirements and compliance with all required UCLan and DEC/NHS policies and procedures. You will take responsibility for treatment plans and overall management of/accountability for clinical care, including assistance and intervention in procedures, as deemed necessary. In addition, you will teach primary care dental procedures in the phantom head room when required and will contribute to the overall delivery of teaching and assessment across the School's undergraduate provision.
We offer a range of undergraduate programmes for the extended dental team and, wherever possible, the teaching is integrated. Currently, you will be supervising both BDS and Dental Hygiene/Therapy students, working together in the clinical environment. Your base will be within one of the Dental Education Centres, though your duties will be spread across two DECs and you will also attend wider team meetings/teaching and assessment activities at the Preston Campus, giving you an opportunity to be part of the wider clinical academic team.
We require you to be fully registered as a dentist with the GDC and to have significant experience of primary care dentistry in a general practice, clinic, university or hospital environment. Some experience of teaching is desirable but training will be given. If you do not hold a formal teaching qualification, you must be willing to undertake this within two years of appointment. In addition, you should be IT literate, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
