Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban Planning and Design, to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Urban Planning, and preferably with other degrees in Architecture/Urban Design, or Social Sciences. They should have at least 3 years’ post-doctoral research experience in urban or built environment research, preferably in the contexts of age-friendly and/or disability-friendly built environment; and be conversant with quantitative and qualitative research skills, preferably with demonstrated experience of working with researchers using urban science or Geographic Information System analytics to develop relevant and implementable policy recommendations. Applicants should also have excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Chinese (preferably Cantonese as spoken Chinese), the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and the ability to work with external parties, including academics and social service groups, etc.

The appointee will work with related research teams to make inter-faculty, inter-disciplinary and innovative efforts to advance the disability-friendliness of the social and physical environment to improve Hong Kong’s livability. Apart from the general research work, he/she will be responsible for applying for research grants, preparing academic publications, and liaising with NGOs and relevant stakeholders.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
