Adjunct Part-time Position in Classical Arabic (HDS Summer Language Program 2018)

Harvard Divinity School seeks an adjunct lecturer in Classical Arabic to teach an eight-week intensive course on Classical Arabic from June 11 to August 2, 2018, as part of the Summer Language Program. The teaching material covers the early stages at the elementary level of the language up to intermediate competency (equivalent to two semesters of college instruction in Classical Arabic). A one-year prior knowledge of Arabic is a prerequisite for students to take this class. Candidates for the teaching position should be competent in the target language and have experience in college/university teaching. The appointment title will depend on the finalist’s qualifications.
Applicants should demonstrate the following qualifications: (1) completed advanced degree and (2) substantial experience in teaching Classical Arabic. Previous publications are desirable, but not required.
