Are you an acknowledged expert in Digital Education? Are you ready to make a major contribution to research, teaching or knowledge exchange within a leading technology university?

Who we are

Manchester is one of the most extensive higher education centres in Europe and the most popular city for students in the UK. We are at the heart of it, delivering cutting-edge skills to people from 120 countries – 94% of whom go into work or further study within six months of graduating. Since 2006, we have invested £350 million into our exceptional campus to deliver our vision of being the best modern university, and we continue to achieve and innovate every day.

Where you’ll work:

The Department of Operations, Technology, Events and Hospitality Management is a newly formed, research-led academic department within our highly regarded Business School. Offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and commercial programmes, including sector-leading degree apprenticeships, the Department places strong emphasis on employability and critical thinking.

About the role:

Focusing on research, teaching or knowledge exchange and enterprise, you will ensure excellence in learning across all aspects of Digital Education. We will look to you to contribute to teaching, student supervision and administration, whilst taking on cross-faculty responsibilities and representing your discipline on national and international committees. In particular, you will build capacity in the Digital Technology Solutions degree apprenticeship programme – shaping the syllabus, maximising student attraction and retention, and proactively promoting the course. At the same time, you will maintain an international research programme, with a steady pipeline of publication in peer-reviewed journals, lead a successful portfolio of knowledge exchange projects or champion innovation in teaching and learning, depending upon your specialism.

About You:

To join us, you will require a relevant PhD and formal teaching qualification, backed by extensive experience of leading and developing degree programmes in Digital Education. Notably, you should be familiar with engaging employers to create curricula, and you will bring the imagination and gravitas to make a significant contribution to academic leadership within the University. Join us as a Reader and you should be ready for promotion to Professor within four to five years, whilst immediate appointment as Professor will require membership of appropriate professional bodies and a proven profile of delivering research findings via conferences, papers and international networks.
