Research Assistant - “Next generation biopesticides for environmentally benign control of crop pest-
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work on a TSB Innovate BBSRC- funded project:
“Next generation biopesticides for environmentally benign control of crop pests”
We have identified several spider venom peptides that when fused to a plant derived “carrier” protein demonstrate efficacy against invertebrate pests of crops. Recombinant fusion proteins produced by fermentation have potential application as novel biopesticides. Working with our industrial partner Lonza (www.lonza.com) we are conducting a more in depth analysis of the potential of this technology, including production scale-up, efficacy assessment and the production and evaluation of further pipeline candidates.
In addition to this research project, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the day-to-day management of the laboratory as detailed in the requirements and responsibilities given below.
The post is fixed term for 11 months and the successful candidate will be working with Dr Fitches.
