The Steel Research Hub hosted by the University of Wollongong (UOW), Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences (EIS) aims to develop breakthrough process and product innovations to enable the Australian steel industry to improve its global competitiveness. It is based on an integrated, value chain-wide approach to innovation in the steel sector, including projects on innovation strategy and management, customer-focused product development, innovation in coating and surface engineering technology, and economic and environmental sustainability of iron and steelmaking.
This position will be responsible for conducting research related to the feasibility of zinc removal via a conventional iron ore sintering plant through a targeted experimental plan utilising facilities developed within the University of Wollongong, and working closely with the project partner, BlueScope Steel. You will play a key role in the delivery of project D2.7 “Zinc Removal via the Iron Ore Sintering Process”, under CI Dr Guangqing Zhang.
Working within a UOW research team and collaboratively with a BSL technology team, they will be responsible for the design, execution and implementation of the research program, including the communication of results to both industry partners and through peer-reviewed journal articles.
