The Opportunity

The School of Chemistry is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Organic chemistry to conduct research and teaching of the highest international quality. You will work in a team of like-minded individuals and will be expected to provide expertise and knowledge aligned with the objectives and principles of the School of Chemistry.

With support from the School, you will attract funding to undertake research, and recruit and supervise postgraduate students. You will be involved in continuing to build the School’s reputation for excellence in research and high-quality innovative teaching. 

As a candidate for the Lecturer (Academic Level B) position, you will have a PhD in Organic Chemistry or a closely related discipline. You will also have a strong research background with a track record of publishing in top-tier chemistry journals. You will be expected to have some experience in teaching, and student supervision in a tertiary environment and possess a high level of interpersonal skill. Applicants with papers accepted for publication or under second review at top-tier journals are strongly encouraged to apply.

As a candidate for the Senior Lecturer (Academic Level C) position, you will have a PhD in Organic Chemistry or a closely related discipline. You will have a strong record in attracting research funding and of publishing in high-quality top-tier journals. You will have a proven commitment to high-quality teaching, including evidence of leadership in teaching and postgraduate supervision. You will also have a high level of interpersonal skill and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.

Appointments will be made at a level appropriate to the successful applicant's qualifications, experience and in accordance with classification standards for each level.
