Senior Research Project Officer
Classification: ANU Officer 7 (Research)
Salary package: $85,023 - $89,370 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Full time, Continuing (Contingent Funded)
The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) leads intellectual engagement with the Asia-Pacific region through research, teaching and contributions to public debate, and seeks to set the international standard for scholarship concerning the region.
The Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language (CoEDL) is investigating language as a diverse, dynamic and evolving organism that interacts with perceptual processes in ingenious ways. Our staff are researching endangered languages of the Asia-Pacific region, and generating rich and varied data-sets. Making the documentation accessible as linguistic data-sets will help generate important scientific insights and exciting new technologies.
The Senior Research Project Officer will be responsible for the development and management of large on-line corpora for around 15 under-documented languages of Australia and the region, under broad direction of the Centre’s Deputy Director and the Director of Archiving. The Senior Research Project Officer will work with CoEDL members to build corpora from a range of linguistic data, and to create pipelines for adding linguistic data into on-line corpora. The Senior Research Project Officer will also liaise with, and support CoEDL researchers and stakeholders in using the corpora, and ensuring the legacy holdings and newly collected material are accessible for a variety of users.
The Senior Research Project Officer works closely with CoEDL members as part of the research team, contributing to the design and implementation of research directions, liaising with a wide range of stakeholder, and coordinating support aspects of allocated research activities.
