About the role

The Department of Management, Sport and Tourism is committed to actively engaging with business, policy-makers and the professions in the pursuit of relevant and impactful (social and economic as well as academic) research and, where possible, seeks to effectively engage with the University’s Research Focus Areas (RFAs).  The department seeks to further explore cross college and cross disciplinary program innovations.

In addition to being active researchers, members of the Department teach into degrees at both the undergraduate and postgraduate coursework level, and in supervision of Honours and postgraduate research students.

The Department of Management, Sport and Tourism in the La Trobe Business School wishes to appoint a Level E full-time continuing academic in the area of Management. The appointee will have expertise in the areas of Innovation or Innovative Strategy in a Management context and will be able to lead the Department’s strategic direction in this area.

Skills & Experience

The Professor of Management will be an internationally acknowledged leader in their discipline. You will design and lead curriculum development, teaching, and conduct and publish research of the highest quality that also has impact. You will also foster excellence in teaching and research in your discipline at La Trobe, and through relevant national and international external bodies. All Professors are members of the University’s Academic Board and are expected to contribute to the leadership not only of their Department, School and College, but also of the University as a whole.

To be considered for this role you have completed a PhD in Management or a similar discipline. You must demonstrate commitment to the highest quality teaching in disciplines of Management, including evidence of leadership in teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels. Demonstrated excellence in Research and Teaching in the areas Innovation or Innovative Strategy in the context of Management and a distinguished record of internationally recognised research, with evidence of the highest quality and/or impact are essential and you will have strong evidence of quality publications and successful grant applications. You will demonstrate a track record of attracting postgraduate students and supervising them through to completion. Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills are essential as is the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
