The Department of Computer Science is recruiting a Research Assistant to work on an EPSRC funded project titled ‘Data Analytics for Health-Care Profiling using Smart Meters’. The position will involve working alongside an award winning team of smart meter data analysts from LJMU and healthcare practitioners from and Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.
The project concerns the load disaggregation of smart meter data to detect specific energy device interactions. This information will be used to capture detailed habits of an individual in their home environment, as the premise for developing a remote patient monitoring device. The team will then research the identification of anomalies in a person’s routine that are the result of a health-related condition.
The project will run from 1 May 2018 to 1 June 2019. Applicants should have a PhD (or close to completion), software development experience and a familiarity of implementing machine-learning algorithms. General responsibilities will include coding and system development (C++, Java, Python, .NET etc.), data collection responsibilities and contributing to academic publications. Experience with Azure Machine Learning Workbench is also preferable but not essential.
Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
