Cranfield University Research Ethics Committee
Cranfield is an exclusively postgraduate University that is a global leader for education and transformational research in technology and management. The research and consultancy we carry out for industry, government and business provides our students with a real-world learning environment.
The University is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who can make a valuable contribution to our research as members of our Research Ethics Committee. The main function of CUREC is to represent the general interests of participants and other stakeholders who take part in, or are otherwise affected by, research conducted by staff or students of the University.
CUREC oversees the University’s processes which aim to ensure that individuals and groups involved in Cranfield’s research are adequately protected from harm, including, but not limited to physical, psychological, emotional, reputational, career or financial harm.
We are seeking to appoint a number of individuals as external members of CUREC. Specialist knowledge is not required, simply a general interest in ethics and research. External members are expected to attend two committee meetings a year at the University with the possibility of some further work between meetings. The appointments will be for three years, with possible renewal for one further three-year term.
To ensure independent scrutiny, the positions of external members are un-remunerated, but appropriate travelling expenses are payable by the University.
Please send expressions of interest in a covering letter outlining the motivation for contributing to Cranfield’s Research Ethics Committee along with any relevant experience, accompanied by a CV. Individuals selected for the short list will be invited to an informal discussion with key members of CUREC.
To submit an expression of interest, or for further information, please contact Mrs. Michelle Carter, Research and Innovation Project Manager on (E); email@example.com
