Salary: Band G
Hours: 28.8 Hours (0.8 FTE- This position is offered at 0.8 FTE. However, other part-time fractions would be possible. For example, it would be possible to start at 0.6 FTE, increasing the time commitment later in the project)
Term: Fixed Term until 31st December 2019
Holiday: 16 days per annum (based on 0.8 FTE)
St Mary’s University has a long and distinguished history and a very modern outlook. Since its foundation in 1850 it has fostered the intellectual, physical and spiritual development of its students to assist them to have successful careers and flourishing lives.
This particular opportunity has arisen as a result of the success of St. Mary’s First Star Academy which is designed to provide to children in care who are aged 14-18 a higher-education experience and life-skills learning chances. The project has been supported by a variety of philanthropic funders. The role of the post-holder will be to carry out research into the success of the project. Both quantitative and qualitative research skills will be required. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
The objective of the research will be to analyse and determine the success of the project, find ways in which the delivery of the project and its outcomes can be improved and research ways in which the project can be expanded and developed.
The post-holder will be required to produce a range of reports for internal and external use. He/she will be encouraged to write articles, think tank reports and so on as well as academic papers in collaboration with other St. Mary’s staff members.
It is expected that the post-holder will have (or be close to completing) a PhD in a relevant subject. However, other relevant research experience will be considered.
