Global Lounge Assistant
The Global Lounge is a new initiative, shortly to be launched by the University, and will be a multifunctional, campus-based hub for our globally-oriented activities, promoting and celebrating multiculturalism. Located in our new student hub currently in development as part of the Tyndall Place Project, the Global Lounge will be:
- A social space for students and staff to learn about and be inspired to be internationally mobile, as well as to connect with other globally engaged students and staff from across the University;
- A resource centre for students interested in international mobility where they can access information on all the opportunities available to them;
- A venue for cultural events and other international-related activities, such as cultural celebrations, information sessions, talk, etc.;
- A base for international student societies to promote cross-cultural understanding and cooperation as well as the development of an international community made up of UK, EU, and international students.
The University of Bristol has a substantial and growing number of international students who have a unique contribution to make. The role of the Global Lounge Assistant is to provide all round support to the Global Lounge Manager in the effective delivery of operations of the Global Lounge.
Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, the role holder will initially be responsible supporting the logistical and administrative aspects related to the setting up of the Global Lounge (both as a physical space – due to be launched in mid-2019 and a virtual initiative, in late 2018).
Once the Global Lounge is launched as a physical space, the role holder will be responsible for supporting the Global Lounge Manager in all aspects of the management of the Global Lounge, including the delivery of events g (in collaboration with the SU and Student Societies), the management of the International Student Ambassadors staffing the Lounge and the promotion of all activities taking place under the auspices of the Global Lounge.
Interviews anticipated 10th May 2018.
The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
