The School of Engineering and Applied Science has a focus on designing and delivering professionally relevant programmes and research informed teaching to help to prepare our graduates to enter and impact industry. Our optional paid professional placement year allows our students to exploit our connections with business and industry, and put theory into practice in real world scenarios.

As a Teaching Fellow within the Product Design Team at Aston, you will be expected to be comfortable working with a lively and diverse student community; helping students to develop the kind of design skills that are relevant to their discipline and sought after from an industrial perspective. You should have a strong focus on student-centred learning and development and be able to show that you can engage students through a variety of different delivery methods such as lectures, workshops, group and individual tutorials.

You should have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant design or engineering subject, and be able to demonstrate that you have knowledge of user-centred relevant research methods to support your design practice.
We would also be interested in applications from candidates that are currently engaged with the design industry and can bring valuable industrial practices into the course in terms of product research and development.
