The School

The School of Economics is one of the largest in the Faculty of Business and Economics. It teaches both undergraduate and post graduate programs. The school contributes to research excellence and provides advice on important economic and social issues facing regional Governments and other stakeholders.

The Opportunity

The appointee will teach undergraduate courses in Economics. She/he will contribute to building a stronger research profile of the School. The successful candidate will also work with other regional and international organisations, may engage in consultancy services and contribute to the School’s annual work plan and the University’s Strategic plan. 

The Person We Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A PhD in Economics from a recognised University and at least one ranked publication, tertiary teaching experience and a demonstrated and active interest in research work;
  • OR in exceptional cases, a relevant Masters qualification and QoR threshold of meeting the performance expectation of a Lecturer, some relevant tertiary teaching experience, a Post Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching (PGCTT) or equivalent;
  • To be considered at the Assistant Lecturer level applicants must be citizens of USP member countries (regional).


The position is available for a term of 5 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range: Assistant Lecturer FJ $54,195to FJ $$65,034per annum
