Salary: $88,171 - $95,444 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

The Department of General Practice is part of the Melbourne Medical School, within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, The University of Melbourne.  The Department promotes excellence in general practice through teaching and learning, research and research training, and knowledge transfer to general practitioners and primary care nurses.

About the role

The role will be responsible for managing of a team of professional staff involved in the administration of the general practice components of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders including General Practices throughout Victoria, the Royal College of General Practitioners (RACGP), the Department of Medical Education and the Clinical Schools.  The activities of the role include:

  • high level policy and procedural advice to Department staff;
  • the development of new systems, strategies, processes and policy to enhance the delivery of General Practice teaching and placements;
  • development of quality assurance, risk management and GP evaluation policies and processes;
  • management of regulatory and legal compliance requirements related to student placements including Practice Payment Legal Agreements and practice incentive payments;
  • development of curriculum material and training, including online materials, in collaboration with academic staff;
  • management of teaching and learning projects; and
  • development and implementation of marketing strategies for the recruitment and engagement of general practices

About You

To be successful in applying for this role, you will be highly motivated and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders.  You will have demonstrated experience supervising staff, organising workplans to facilitate timely completion of projects and implementing process improvements.  You will be able to work autonomously, providing high level policy and procedural advice; resolving escalated issues and grievances using your sound judgement and consulting with relevant Department staff where necessary.
