Appointment of Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences

Kingston University is the largest higher education provider in south-west London, with students from over 140 countries and an annual income of around £200 million. Passionate about the power of a university education to transform lives, we believe strongly in students putting their academic study into practice – ‘learning through doing’.

From August 2018, we are establishing a new Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, bringing together subject areas with a close natural association to strengthen our teaching, research and competitive position. This will enable us to harness opportunities offered by increased collaboration across the social sciences, whilst retaining a distinct business school identity. The disciplines represented in the new Faculty include Business, Law, Social and Behavioural Sciences, Criminology and Sociology, Economics, Politics, International Relations and Human Rights and Psychology, with around 4,500 students in total.
This is an exciting opportunity for a new Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean to create a distinctive profile for the Faculty that is recognised regionally and nationally. In line with the university’s vision, mission and aims, it is critical to provide visible leadership and strategic direction by developing an aspirational community for staff and students, thereby creating a culture of pride and excitement united by a shared, common purpose.

An accomplished academic, with significant leadership and people management experience and a track record of successfully managing change in a complex environment, you will build on existing strengths and work with colleagues to create an ethos of opportunity for all. You will have a committed focus on the student experience and the delivery of teaching excellence, which attracts and retains the very best students and staff.

A stimulating yet challenging time to join a University that is creating a dynamic and modern future for its staff, students and community. This is a great time to join our Senior Management Team to help shape, lead and grow a new Faculty, committed to making an outstanding contribution to the wider society.
