Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Centre for Water Technology and Policy, to commence as soon as possible for three years.

The Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Social Sciences, in close collaboration, will jointly establish and operate the Centre for Water Technology and Policy to conduct cutting edge research in, and contribute to interdisciplinary teaching programmes on, water science, technology and policy in relation to broader urban sustainability goals. The Centre will involve, as appropriate, other institutions, professional bodies and scholars in Hong Kong and internationally to pursue excellence in research and teaching on water technology-policy interface issues, and to reach out to the community to stimulate discussion on relevant research findings.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in a Social Sciences discipline; excellent writing and speaking skills in Chinese/Cantonese and English; as well as a good track record in conducting research relating to public policy analysis. The appointee is expected to work closely with the Centre’s two co-Directors to conduct research and contribute to teaching and learning activities in the areas of water safety, security and urban sustainability, forging the technology-policy nexus. He/she will also help engage the general public in raising awareness of water policy issues critical to urban sustainability. Enquires about the duties of the post should be sent to Dr. Frederick Y.S. Lee (e-mail: leey@hku.hk).

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

Applicants should send a completed application form, together with a covering letter, an up-to-date C.V., and a statement on what they perceive to be Hong Kong’s key water policy challenges to the Centre at civhr@hku.hk . The application form (341/1111) can be downloaded at http://www.hr.hku.hk/apptunit/form-ext.doc. Further particulars can be obtained at http://jobs.hku.hk/. Closes April 20, 2018.

The University thanks applicants for their interest, but advises that only candidates shortlisted for interviews will be notified of the application result.
