The successful appointee will contribute to the University’s new cyber security initiative, with research work expected to be focused on the intersection of data analytics and cyber security. This position is jointly supported by AusCERT, a leading Cyber Emergency Response Team for Australia located in UQ (https://www.auscert.org.au). The collaboration with AusCERT provides access to cyber security expertise and a treasure-trove of anonymised network security data, opportunities to evaluate research outcomes in operational enterprise networks, and access to member organisations on the front-line of contemporary cyber security issues.
Applicants should posses a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, and a demonstrated knowledge of data analytics, and computational, analytical and machine learning techniques.
Demonstrated teaching skills at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is essential. Skills and experience in Higher Degree by Research supervision are essential for consideration for a Level C appointment.
Experience in the application of data analytics and machine learning to cyber security is highly desirable.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

This is a full-time continuing appointment at at Academic Level B or Level C. Appointment level will be commensurate to qualficiations and experience.
For Academic Level B the remuneration package will be in the range $92,143 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $107,807 - $128,020 p.a.).
For Academic Level C the remuneration package will be in the range $112,874 - $130,151 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $132,063 - $152,277 p.a.).
