The College of Design and Social Context encompasses RMIT University's renowned art, architecture, media, communication, built environment, design, education and social science disciplines and is comprised of eight Schools. The College has 24,500 students and 1,000 staff.

The School of Architecture and Urban Design delivers innovative scholarship in architecture, landscape architecture, interiors and related fields of design. Innovation in learning and teaching is a key strength of the school. Practice-based and vertically integrated scholarship involving students, staff and practitioners provides an engagement in research-led design projects.

The role and your responsibilities

This role is accountable for providing high level strategic planning and business advice and support to the Dean and School Executive and ensures the effective and efficient delivery of services to support the School's activities and objectives. The incumbent makes a significant contribution to the strategic management of the School

This role is a member of the School executive team and is required to work collaboratively with all members of the School management team and with staff across the School to ensure that the School achieves its strategic objectives. The position works closely with the College Director of Planning and Resources to ensure alignment with College strategic objectives.

Skills & experience required

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate significant leadership skills, including the ability to initiate, lead and manage change in a challenging and dynamic environment. You will have experience in managing the delivery of services within a complex organisation and high level of expertise in the areas of change management, quality management and project management.

The key to your success will be your experience in managing a budget, a proven high level of problem solving and analytical ability partnered with your highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with internal and external groups. A relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience, along with a higher degree in management will be highly regarded.
