Chief Operating Officer
Location: Chelmsford or Cambridge

Anglia Ruskin is an innovative global university with students from 185 countries and ranked as one of the top 350 institutions in the world in The Times Higher Education's World University Rankings 2018. Our graduates are making a difference in sectors that are vital to our region’s economic success, such as digital technology, health and medical innovation, and the creative industries. Students, businesses, and partners benefit from our outstanding facilities: we’ve invested £100 million in the past five years and plan to invest a further £91 million over the next five years.

In this context, Anglia Ruskin is looking to appoint a new Chief Operating Officer. As part of Anglia Ruskin’s senior management team, the COO will support the Vice Chancellor in the strategic leadership, management and decision making of the University, and will provide leadership to the largest professional services portfolio within ARU, encompassing the Human Resources, Estates and Facilities, Information Technology and Strategic Planning and Change Management directorates.

Good candidates will bring a strong track record of senior level strategic and operational management gained in complex organisations in the public and/or private sectors along with evidence of successful implementation of strategy, and delivery of high quality services across a range of professional service areas. A track record of innovation, with significant experience of managing major change will be sought, as will the gravitas and credibility to work effectively with a wide range of audiences both internal and external. The appointed candidate will bring personal credibility to work with and command the respect and trust of the academic community as well as professional services colleagues, and have a strong empathy with the University’s mission and values.
