Chief Information Officer, Associate Vice President

The University is seeking to appoint an Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer with a track record of transformational leadership gained in large and complex organisations. Reporting to the Provost, the successful candidate will develop and implement a compelling strategic plan. They will harmonize and leverage our existing IT systems and processes so that the University of Guelph can promote a world-class user experience for students and faculty and enhance every aspect of the University’s operations. The scope of responsibility, potential for transformative impact, and degree to which this CIO office will be integrated into senior executive decision-making will be unique in Canadian Higher Education due to the direct and indirect authority they will have over all IT staff on campus.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership experience and technical skills and be a champion for the transformative role technology can play in a modern research university. They will embrace the diverse ecosystem of the University of Guelph and bring a proactive service mentality to a broad set of stakeholders, while contributing substantially to all of the University’s strategic initiatives. Crucially, they will have the interpersonal and communication skills required to operate at the most senior levels of the University, engage stakeholders in transformative change and build strong partnerships with public and private sector partners and other strategic contacts both nationally and internationally.
