Postdoctoral Research Fellow within Drilling Fluids and Mechanisms of Particle Sedimentation
At Department of Geoscience and Petroleum (IGP) there is a vacant Post Doc position in Drilling Fluids and Mechanisms of Particle Sedimentation.
This project is part of a five-year research project on complex fluids with potential for transformative scientific discoveries in industries from petro-chemical to cosmetics. https://www.ccny.cuny.edu/news/nsf-awards-ccny-consortium-52-million-advance-fluids-research
The position is for a two years period and the research work will be carried out in close cooperation with Sintef. The project is funded by the Norwegian Research Council (NFR).
The Post Doc will address challenges related to particle sedimentation in drilling fluids and other wellbore fluids. These fluids, which must serve many purposes in petroleum wells, geothermal wells and wells for CO2 reinjection, are complex formulations.
The main objective of this project is to gain a deeper understanding of the correspondence between detailed viscoelastic fluid properties to identify correlations to the particle sedimentation rate, i.e. the weight material sagging.
In order to be considered for the postdoctoral position, the applicant must hold a PhD degree within mechanical engineering (fluid mechanics) or drilling engineering (drilling fluids). Candidates working with relevant background will be preferred. Good written and oral English is a prerequisite.
Conditions of appointment
Postdoctoral Fellows are remunerated in code 1352, with minimum gross salary of NOK 486 100 per annum (before tax). There will be a 2 % deduction to The Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund from gross salary.
