Lecturer in English Language and British Culture

University Paris-Dauphine London Campus, specialising in International business, Management and Economics, is recruiting a Lecturer in English (as a foreign language) and British Culture.  High standards towards language proficiency is one of our Global Bachelor Pedagogical essential requirements, and we are looking for a talented, English native speaker, inspirational and team-player professional who is committed to bringing out the best in every student. This position also includes active contribution to Paris-Dauphine in London Summer schools and other prospective projects.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To teach English and British Culture, accordingly to our student’s level: groups from B2 - to C1+ levels in the CECR scale (minimum of 320 teaching hours per academic year)
  • To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • To liaise with the Head of the programme and other staff regarding the progress of individual students and groups.
  • To identify the students who would need specific English guidance and specify appropriate guidance for them.
  • To contribute to raising standards of student attainment and achievement.
  • To propose innovative teaching and research programmes.
  • To set appropriate assessment regimes to measure progress of the students
  • To report to the General Manager on all pedagogical matters related to the course delivery in London. 

Person specification

Education / Training

  • Excellent subject knowledge and a relevant degree and teaching qualification.
  • Possibly a PhD in English Language, Literature or similar

Skills and aptitude

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively; team player.
  • Ability to work to and achieve high standards.
  • Evidence of ability to teach and to supervise academic work by undergraduates.
  • Good planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to use a range of teaching methods in the classroom and to promote a stimulating learning environment.
  • Creative skills and ideas for planning practical and interesting lessons.
  • Competent user of ICT with the ability to use these skills in the classroom.
  • Commitment to extra-curricular activities.
  • Effective listening skills.
